Netatmo introduces a smart WLAN HomeKit video doorbell

Netatmo – The Smart Home specialist from France presented its smart video doorbell at this year’s CES in Las Vegas. The smart WLAN doorbell with 1080p camera is Apple HomeKit compatible and captivates with its minimalist and modern design.

Netatmo Apple HomeKit compatible WLAN video doorbell

Netatmo’s WLAN doorbell equipped with the 1080p camera won the CES 2019 Innovation Awards in Las Vegas in the “Household Appliances” category.

With the help of a video doorbell, you’ll always be at home, even when you’re out and about. So you always know what’s going on outside your front door.

In the case of the Netatmo doorbell, it is also possible to communicate with people, thanks to the integrated speaker and microphone, or even to drive uninvited guests into flight. You’ll also receive a video call as soon as someone presses the button and can then decide whether you want to talk to the visitors or not.

Speaking of uninvited guests, the video doorbell has person recognition, just like the Netatmo Welcome and Presence cameras **, and informs you on your smartphone. At the same time, this event is also recorded, which you can watch or download later.

Netatmo Video Doorbell Alarm Zones and Security

If someone tries to deactivate or even remove the smart WLAN doorbell, you will also be informed on your smartphone.

You can also decide for yourself whether to send the notifications and record the videos. To limit the surveillance area, there are alarm zones that you can set up yourself. So you will only receive notifications if something has been detected in these zones.

The Netatmo Video Doorbell with 1080p Camera and Night Vision

As already mentioned above, the doorbell has a Full-HD camera with 1080p resolution and a 160° wide-angle lens. Thanks to the camera’s HDR function, which most smartphones are familiar with, the camera should also be able to adapt better to sudden changes in light.

This should especially help with backlighting, for example, to better recognize sunlight and people.

Last but not least, thanks to the infrared LED, the camera should also be able to recognize people well at night.

Netatmo HomeKit WLAN Video doorbell – The installation

The doorbell should also be very easy to install, according to Netatmo, even without professional help. In fact, the doorbell is simply replaced with your existing wired doorbell and connected to the WLAN.

It can be operated on existing installations with between 8 and 24 volts and, in addition, even with 230 volts.

The doorbell should be protected from rain, snow, humidity, dust and dirt thanks to a so-called HZO technology (nanofoil).

No subscription fees

The videos recorded by the smart video doorbell end up on an internal micro SD card or can be automatically transferred to your personal DropBox account. If you use a private FTP server, the data can also be stored and archived there. The Mcro-SD cards are, by the way, class 10 and up to 32 GB supported.

An end-to-end encryption is used to ensure that the data transfer is secure.

The app and voice control

The Natatmo video doorbell is set up and controlled with the in-house security app for iOS and Android smartphones, or via the WEB app on the Mac or PC. It is compatible with iPhone and iPad with iOS 10 or newer and Android smartphones and tablets from version 5.0.

Because the smart doorbell is Apple HomeKit compatible, it also listens to your command thanks to Siri. So you can ask Siri to show you the doorbell to see who’s in front of the front door.

Compatibility with the Apple Watch is also given and asks for much more.

Comfort for their owners.

Automation can also be implemented in Apple’s own Smart “Home App” and the doorbell can be linked to other smart devices. The simplest example here would be to switch on the exterior lighting when a person is detected.

If you need it even more extensively, you can connect the video doorbell to the IFTTT platform and use it with many different devices and web services from other manufacturers.
